Cosmetic eyelid surgery is small in scope but exacting in technique. The surgical procedure for blepharoplasty itself takes less than one hour. Dr. Baylis performs this cosmetic surgery under local anesthesia with oral sedation or IV sedation (twilight sleep). Using oral or IV sedation is up to the individual patient.

Following cosmetic surgery, the patient relaxes at home and needs no assistance in the after care. The following day, the blepharoplasty patient has nearly full activity but will have some swelling or bruising that lasts one to two weeks. Out-of-town patients who arrive in Newport Beach or Santa Monica by plane for their blepharoplasty may leave after the third day, but frequently stay for one full week.
